Privacy policy

Your information, plainly.

What we collect, what we do with it, and what we never do. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

The short version

  • We collect only what you type into a form on this site, plus the basic technical information every website receives.
  • We use it to answer you, to match and acknowledge your gift, and to keep the site secure.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your information, and we never will.
  • The public website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising code.
  • No card or bank details are ever collected on this site.
  • You can ask us to show, correct, or delete what we hold about you at any time: boshat.org@gmail.com.

Who we are

BOSHAT (Building Opportunities for Schools, Healthcare, and Tomorrow) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 41-2702247, based in Utah. This policy covers boshat.org/ and the forms on it. "We" and "us" mean BOSHAT.

What we collect, and why

Contact form: your name, email address, message, and any files you choose to attach. Used to reply to you.

Volunteer form: your name, email address, the areas you would like to help with, and anything you tell us. Used to match you with a volunteer role and contact you about it.

Donation notice ("Tell us what you're sending"): your name, email address, the amount, the fund you chose, how you are sending it, an optional note, and whether you want an acknowledgment letter. Used to match your payment when it arrives, to use it for the purpose you chose, and to send you the written acknowledgment the IRS asks donors to keep.

Payments themselves never pass through this website. When you give by Zelle or check, that transaction is handled by your bank under its own privacy policy, and we receive only what it passes on to us, such as your name and the amount.

Technical information: like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and the time of each request. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose problems, and protect the forms from abuse. Your IP address is also used, briefly and in memory only, to limit how many form submissions one connection can send.

Where your information goes

Form submissions are delivered by email to the BOSHAT volunteers who handle them (for example, donation notices go to our treasurer). They are not stored in a database on this website.

We use a small number of service providers to run the site: a hosting provider, an email provider to deliver form messages, and GitHub, which stores the website's content. They process information only to provide their service to us.

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with other organizations for their own purposes. We will disclose information only if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a person or the security of the site.

Cookies and tracking

The public website does not set cookies, does not use analytics, and does not load advertising, social-media, or other third-party tracking code. No other company collects information about your activity across websites through this site.

The content editor at /keystatic, used only by signed-in BOSHAT volunteers, uses cookies to keep editors signed in.

Links to other sites, such as our Instagram page, take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because this site does not track visitors over time or across other websites, there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We treat every visitor as if that signal were on.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and volunteer details for as long as they are useful for the purpose you sent them, and review them at least once a year. Donation records are kept for as long as tax and nonprofit record-keeping rules require, which is generally seven years.

How we protect it

The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), uses strict security settings in every browser, limits and checks every form submission, and never handles payment details. Access to the email inboxes that receive form messages is limited to the volunteers who need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care and will tell you promptly if we learn that your information has been exposed.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information, email boshat.org@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission, and we will ask for it before any activity.

Photographs

We ask permission before publishing a photograph in which a person can be identified, and we ask a parent or guardian before publishing a photograph of anyone under 18. If you appear in a photograph on this site and would like it removed, email boshat.org@gmail.com and we will take it down.

Your choices

You can ask us, at any time and for free, to tell you what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email boshat.org@gmail.com or write to us at the address below. We will reply within 30 days.

These rights are offered to everyone, wherever you live, whether or not a particular privacy law applies to a nonprofit of our size.

Visitors outside the United States

This site is operated from the United States, and information you send is handled in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also post a notice on the home page for at least 30 days before it takes effect. We will not use information you have already given us in a materially different way without your consent.
